Remembering Dennis Edwards Feb 3rd 1943-Feb 2nd 2018

UNREPLACEABLE

You would think, the worst job in the world would be manning the shovel at the circus. I always thought that there was one job in the world worse than that.

In 1968 The Temptations were the hottest group in American History (okay maybe number 2 to The Supremes.)
Fronting the legendary group was the one and only
DAVID RUFFIN...
Think Bobby Brown only Bobby Brownier give or take a few ego percentage points.

When Ruffin left there are people that believed The Temptations were over.

ENTER: DENNIS EDWARDS

Mr. Edwards brought a voice that was rich, wonderful and distinctive enough to be appreciated for being Dennis Edwards.
At no point in his career did Mr. Edwards try and replace David Ruffin.

What Mr. Edwards gave The Temptations and the world was an amazing and talented Dennis Edwards.
A voice never heard before and unreplaceable in his own right.

He shined on tracks such as Ball Of Confusion and a song written too close to his life Pappa Was a Rolling Stone.

When I first realized who Dennis Edwards was it was when his song Don't Look Any Further came out (I am doing a whole article on that next week.)

Then I recall Mr. Edwards actually holding his own with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks on the hit single Standing On The Top.

I have had the pleasure of seeing him perform with Dennis Edwards' Temptations several times. The last time I saw him perform was the funniest because his group opened for The Jacksons in Atlantic city.

Funny Reason One: The Jackson Five used to open for The Temptations in the late 60's.

Funny Reason Two: Dennis Edwards' Temptations totally kicked The Jackson's butt as far as the show was concerned.

Good Night Dennis Edwards...music just got a whole lot smaller...and no...
No One Will Ever Replace YOU!
