I grew up in the 1980's and went to highschool not 2 hours from Philly, so The Goldbergs was right in my wheel house.
Like other shows before it...I related in two ways.
Way One-The ups and downs of highschool...managing friends, teachers, after school jobs and activities. The bonus is that it's set in Philly and I remember how important The NBA SIXERS and other cultural references were.
Way Two-I also relate to the family stuff. The show is based on the real life family of Adam Goldberg who was a video nerd that went on to become a Hollywood Success.
To clarify my opening statement. One could say I fell in love with The Goldbergs before the pilot episode aired because I had enjoyed a few great shows about family, school, and nostalgia that came before.
If you enjoy The Goldbergs as much as I do, you have most likely watched every episode of these great shows. If not? Enjoy!
4. That 70's Show
First ran on FOX. That 70's Show reminds me of Cooley High for white people with out the good music. The show starred actors that have continued to working including Ashton Cutcher, Mila Kunis, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Danny Masterson and Wilmver Valderrama.
This show has a great cast, lots of jokes, even if it feels more a like show about the 70's shot in the 90's.
3. Boy Meets World
This is the only show on the list that does not have a narrator or was set in a time different than when it airs. This show like the others has great writer and acting. Veteran actor William Daniels as Mr. Feeny reminds me of my high school English teacher Mrs. Cash.
Boy Meets World focus' on family and teachers and how they all contribute.
Like all the shows on this list. BMW includes a great ensemble cast!
Why I put BMW on this list?
A. Because it sinks on many levels with the number one show on this list.
B. Boy Meets World has been a success in reruns since it was in it's last 2 seasons on ABC. It continues to find new viewers as well as new generations.
Today a lot of Boy Meets World feels nostalgic because the actors and writers were living in the moment of the 1990s.
2.Everybody Hates Chris
This retelling of Chris Rock's "Wonder Years" is the funniest of all the shows on the list. This show deals the most honestly on issues of poverty and race.

1.The Wonder Years
I think no one that has seen The Wonder Years is surprised at all.
TWY is the show that started the nostalgic take.
With out Ben Savage and The Neal Marlens Production Company not only would we not have the other 3 shows and The Goldbergs. We may not have had the new classic show This Is Us.
For some reason God gave ABC the good sense to premiere The Wonder Year right after The Super Bowl in 1988.
In one half hour The Wonder Years made viewers laugh and left them is total shock.
The Wonder Years did one thing that all of these shows and The Goldbergs also do...tell stories that are relatable. No matter where, when or how you went to school.

If you haven't seen The Goldbergs add it to your Wednesday Night schedule and if you really want to go back? Definitely check out all of these shows however you stream.
